The 87th National Athletics Championships, held at Elbasan Arena Stadium, concluded successfully, delivering high-level competition, strong performances, and historic moments for Albanian athletics. The event highlighted both elite athletes and the continued development of national track and field standards.
The standout athletes of the championships were Franko Burraj and Luiza Gega, who were named the best athletes of the event. Burraj made history in the men’s 200 metres, clocking 21.03 seconds to set a new national record, further establishing his dominance in Albanian sprinting.
In the women’s 200 metres, Iljana Beqiri claimed victory with a time of 25.34 seconds, confirming her consistency and competitive form. Another strong performance came in the men’s 400 metres hurdles, where Durjon Idrizaj won the title in 56.85 seconds following a technically solid race.
In the women’s 400 metres hurdles, Livja Topi secured first place with a time of 1:02.84, ranking among the most impressive hurdle performances of the championships.
